Shootback : Photos by Kids from the Nairobi Slums was published in 1999 by Booth-Clibborn Editions, London. The book bridges many genres – photojournalism, fine art and social commentary – and takes the reader into the slum without the mediation of a foreign photographer’s eye. The powerful pictures and words by these talented teenagers speak eloquently of family, friends, football fever and the harsh realities of life in the slums.
